I am scheduled to talk about Vitamin D and its role in human health and cancer outcomes at our Loyola Spring Symposium April 11, 2026. The theme is “Bridging the Gaps Between Primary Care and Oncology: Advances in Cancer Care and Prevention”. Registration is mainly open to health care professionals and free for Loyola medical students, medical trainees, and nursing students with CME credits applied for and expected. Registration link is tinyurl.com/sym2026.
Suffice to say, as I prepared for this talk, a lot of updates and new information has emerged since July 12, 2025 – the original publication date of my free vitamin D chapter published on this blog site. I have included the most relevant updates in this new Vitamin D chapter version I am calling v2.1. It now includes full references and the chapter is re-organized in a more patient-friendly way to focus more on clinical signs and symptoms of a deficiency, and an immediate dive into practical evidence-based replacement therapy. Additions from Version 2.0 to 2.1 include inclusion of a new table of evidence-based symptoms of a vitamin D deficiency given medical references like Up to Date continue to claim vitamin D deficiency has no associated symptoms. The original blog post with the original chapter version linked has also been updated to this newest version.
I hope you find the new chapter version useful and that you encounter many lives significantly improved from having their vitamin D deficiency correctly addressed. Well wishes to you all.
